IOSH Managing Safely and Environmental Awareness

Context

Eliesha was awarded the delivery of an IOSH Managing Safely programme and the design and delivery of an Environmental Workshop. Each course was to be delivered to approximately 120 members of HMRC’s Estate Management Department.

Objectives

The requirement was for closed courses to be held at locations across the UK which could be at HMRC premises or conference facilities as organised by HMRC’s Learning and Leadership Development Team. Training was to be delivered during normal working hours, i.e. Monday to Friday between 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Eliesha was responsible for providing the requirement to the standards specified under the terms and conditions of the Government Buying Solutions Learning and Development and e-learning solutions Framework which also includes the provision of all course materials, handouts and certificates for successful IOSH candidates as appropriate.

As an accredited IOSH Centre, Eliesha and its consultants were required to deliver the IOSH Managing Safely programme and Environmental Awareness workshops and provide an administration and marking service.

Solution

The four day Managing IOSH Safely Course was an accredited programme which, following the exam at the end of the course, participants received a certificate to confirm their success.

The course was split into the following 8 modules:

  • Introducing Managing Safely
  • Assessing Risks
  • Controlling Risks
  • Understanding your Responsibilities
  • Identifying Hazards
  • Identifying Accidents and Incidents
  • Measuring Performance
  • Protecting our Environment

The one day Environmental Awareness workshop was designed and delivered by Eliesha’s Lead Consultant who worked closely with HMRC’s Environmental Office to ensure the learning outcomes were met, which were:

  • Knowledge of Environmental Terms and Terminology
  • Scope of Environmental Protection Act and other Environmental Statutes
  • Understanding of HMRC’s environmental impacts and targets for improvement
  • Understanding of HMRC’s Mandated Environmental Processes; Environmental Management, Eco-Management and Audit
  • Awareness of SOGE Targets and how the organisation is performing against these targets

Outcome

Eliesha’s Environmental Awareness Consultant delivered 11 Environmental Awareness Workshops throughout the UK from Taunton on the South Coast of England to Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland and Wrexham in Wales. Our qualified IOSH Consultants delivered 12 x 4 days IOSH Managing Safely Courses in venues such as Exeter, Portsmouth, the Midlands and Scotland.

Following a full evaluation of all workshops, 94% of all delegates stated that the Environmental Workshop was good to excellent.  The pre course evaluation identified 92% of all delegates had limited or no knowledge of environmental awareness and following completion of the one day workshop 75% stated that their knowledge had improved to good or full knowledge of the subject area.

All delegates who attended the IOSH Managing Safely Course successfully completed the course.
