Value Wales : Transforming Procurement through Home-Grown Talent

9 February 2015

Eliesha has worked with Value Wales, the procurement arm of the Welsh Government, since 2010 to support the development of a team of procurement professionals who were deployed in seconded roles across public services in Wales to build excellence and capability.

Objectives were to:

  • Recruit potential new talent for the procurement profession in Wales
  • Create a cadre of trained and experienced officers – drawn from both new graduates and existing staff – to become procurement leaders of the future
  • Provide a procurement training and mentoring programme which integrated leadership and management and procurement-specific training
  • Provide a series of cross-public service placements to recruits, to enable them to deliver projects and complete assignments specific to procurement

The programme sought to maximise the recognition of workplace learning, their individual development plans and the successful mapping of all learning, where appropriate, to recognised accredited awards.

Through Eliesha, the apprentices have successfully completed ILM and CMI Level 3 qualifications in leadership and management and Prince 2 Foundation and Practitioner training.

We are delighted that the three cohorts have now completed their ILM Level 5 Award and we look forward to celebrating with them at their awards ceremony in March.

If you have similar procurement professionals who may benefit from this training we would be delighted to discuss that with you.  Please feel free to contact andy.burton@elieshawales.com or call 02920 663 890
