The clock is ticking on funded leadership apprenticeships

Organisations in England are being urged to act now as the funding window for two of the most widely used leadership apprenticeship standards begins to close.

Since their introduction, the Level 3 Team Leader and Level 5 Operations Manager apprenticeships have played a central role in developing managers and leaders across a wide range of sectors. Hundreds of learners have progressed through these programmes with us, building the capability and practical skills needed to lead effectively in today’s workplace.

The impact has been clear – learners report increased confidence and a more deliberate, planned approach to their leadership practice. Employers tell us about the powerful, impactful personal development they received in return for the Levy payments that many employers simply write off as just another tax.

The Level 3 (Team Leader) and Level 5 (Operations Manager) apprenticeship standards will be defunded at the end of the year, so the opportunity to access comprehensive, structured and fully Levy-funded leadership development through these routes has become time-sensitive.

The good news is that there is still time to:

  • Plan and launch new cohorts
  • Secure places on upcoming programmes
  • Maximise existing Levy funds before the deadline

That said, the landscape is already tightening. Training providers have been given caps on new apprenticeship starts ahead of September 2026, meaning availability is expected to become more limited throughout the year.

Our programmes are designed with flexibility in mind, combining virtual delivery, online learning and one-to-one support. This approach allows apprentices to develop their skills in real time, applying learning directly within their roles while balancing both on-the-job and off-the-job requirements.

As a long-standing Approved Centre, we also include a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Certificate as part of both programmes. This provides learners with further, widely-respected professional recognition, including eligibility for the prestigious Chartered Manager status at Level 5, or Foundation Chartered Manager at Level 3.

We are currently working closely with organisations to help them make informed decisions and maximise the remaining funding window – ensuring their current and future leaders can still benefit from these well-established and impactful programmes. We’d love to work with you too.
